About
This site is all about the Hill family’s boat. It’s a 1978 24′ Campbell cuddy cabin named “We Go Now”. We bought it from Campbell Boats June 20th 2008, which just happened to be our 10th wedding anniversary.
It has a 454 Chevy big block with a turbo 400 transmission. It’s a 2 speed pushing the V-drive. It even came with it’s own set of beach towels.
How did we come across this great boat? Glad you asked.
My father passed away on April 25, 2008 and we had a service for him in Parker Arizona. On the way home my wife and I talked about the rest of our lives. What did we want? What would we do? Where would we go? Going through Parker I mentioned that it was important to me that we got out more often with just the 4 of us. I said we needed to go to the river more. She asked if we should buy a boat. I replied “if the planets and moons aligned and I got my wish – I’d have a Campbell”. I proceeded to tell her all about Campbell boats and how Grandpa Gage worked there and Uncle Don owned one … yada yada yada. The conversation ended without us making any real plans to buy a boat. I thought it was just casual talk. I was wrong.
When we got home Kimberly jumped onto the computer and started to search for boats. She called me into the office one night and showed me a boat for sale in Lake Havasu. It was a Campbell. It wasn’t our boat. It was a boat called $uper Neeto. It was yellow and white. Something really struck both of us about that. Dad had a yellow and white K5 blazer and a yellow Custom Deluxe. While Dad was sick in the hospital he used the word “neat” a lot. It was noticeable not because he never used the word but because he was saying it so much. The boat being yellow and white and named “Neeto” was eerily coincidental.
We planned a trip to Havasu to look at $uper Neeto. When we got there ‘We Go Now’ was just put up for sale. Well ‘We Go Now’ was just a better boat so we bought it. Kimberly and I agree that it wasn’t important to buy $uper Neeto because of all the things it reminded us of Dad – but that $uper Neeto took us to Havasu to see a better boat. Maybe Dad was just dragging us along.
I would never had looked for a boat myself. Kimberly did and just happened to find a boat that grabbed our attention so much that it took us to Havasu. And because of all that I have my dream boat. That’s one of the many reasons why I love my wife. She always does things like this for me, and this time it was really big.
We will post stories and pictures as frequently as we can. It should be fun!
